Participants Needed in Research to Improve Early Detection

9-Jun-04

The Marsha Rivkin Center is helping fund a study investigating whether a blood test known as CA125 (a biomarker or chemical found in the blood) is useful for early detection of ovarian cancer among women at increased risk for the disease.

This study is currently enrolling women over the age of 30, with and without ovaries, who have a family history of two or more blood relatives with breast or ovarian cancers. Women who have tested positive for BRCA1 or BRCA2 (a genetic marker), or who have a close relative who has tested positive for BRCA1 or BRCA2 are also eligible for the study.

For more information, call Shirley Gough, Research Nurse, at 1-800-328-1124.
