SEATTLE - April 28, 2008 - Saul Rivkin, M.D., announced today the appointment of Nancy Sclater as executive director of the Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer Research, a unique organization that partners with Swedish Medical Center and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.

"We are thrilled that Nancy has joined our effort to help fund and fight the battle against ovarian cancer. Her leadership will be instrumental in furthering the Center's goals and in bringing together the best scientists and research to find a cure for this deadly disease," Dr. Rivkin said.

Sclater brings a depth of experience in the nonprofit sector where she promoted health-care initiatives and supported vulnerable populations. She has over 30 years experience of connecting people to support medical research. "My vision in accepting this 'challenge' is to raise awareness about ovarian cancer and much needed funding for research," Sclater said. She joins the Marsha Rivkin Center from Pinkerton Brown, an organizational management consulting firm.

In addition, Sclater is an active community member. She is currently president-elect for the Rotary Club of Seattle's Centennial Year. She has also served as a trustee on boards for various local non-profit organizations.

"I am inspired by Dr. Rivkin's commitment and compassion. I share his belief that ovarian cancer need not be the deadly disease it is today. I am committed to helping the Center develop early detection measures and secure the necessary funds for research efforts aimed at helping save thousands of lives," Sclater said.
