Ovarian Cancer Patient Opens Her Restaurant and Raises $17,000 for the Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer Research

Cooking to raise $17,000 for ovarian cancer research

On August 18, 2002, Thai Siam Restaurant hosted its 15th Annual Benefit Dinner to raise funds and awareness for ovarian cancer research at the Marsha Rivkin Center. Owner of Thai Siam and one-year ovarian cancer survivor, Vhanthip Bhokayasupatt, personally underwrote all costs (excluding tax) associated with this event. For a $15 donation, guest enjoyed live traditional Thai music and a buffet menu that included a variety of Thai cuisines. This buffet dinner resulted in an outstanding $17,000 donation to the Marsha Rivkin Center!

According to Ms. Bhokayasupatt, "I was extremely fortunate that my doctors found this disease in its earliest stages. Many women aren't as lucky as I have been. I want to do all that I can to help others who may battle ovarian cancer in the future, and I am grateful I can use my restaurant as venue to raise funds for research."
