Why? All proceeds go to the Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Caner, a local organization promoting research and awareness for ovarian cancer in conjuncture with Swedish Medical Center and Fred Hutch.
Organized by three sisters, Jackelyn, Jessica and Corinne, Totally Teal Toast is a special event created to support ovarian cancer research and early detection.
As the sisters say:
"We are three sisters on a mission. We want to spread awareness of ovarian cancer (and raise a few bucks for the Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer Research). We have had too many family members and friends who have been effected by this disease, and we want to fight back. Did you know that only 15% of ovarian cancer patients are diagnosed early? That leaves 85% diagnosed at a later stage. There is something seriously wrong with that. Through outreach, education, and your support, we hope to increase early detection! Sign up for the February 18 Bar Crawl in Bellevue.
We dedicate our efforts to three amazing women in our lives; our beloved Aunt Mary Nesset, who passed away from ovarian cancer; our other Aunt Mary Immel (from our dad's side of the family), Mary just finished her 6th chemo treatment and signs are currently looking really positive (yay!), and our neighbor of 18 years (Carol).
For us as a family, watching three people we care about go through this process has been really hard. We Immel's are a bunch of "go-getters" and "problem solvers". For us, healing means doing something about it... a bar crawl with eighties style!
Remember, not everyone can attend the bar crawl, but everyone can donate! Make a tax-deductible donation to the Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer.
***Don't forget to make write your donation in honor of TTT, Mary Immel, Mary Nesset, or Carol Hanson***
