The 5th Annual Courage 4 Life Bowling Classic and Auction was held on October 7, 2006. Friends and families gathered at Sun Villa Lanes in Bellevue, WA. A delicious barbequed dinner was generously provided by Outback Steakhouse. Other fun activities included a bowling tournament where attendees could purchase "strikes" to enhance their overall scores, a silent and live auction. This special event raised $50,000 for the Marsha Rivkin Center.

The Courage 4Life Event was founded by Joe White in honor of his wife, Lori, and mother, Mary Ellen Bissell, whom both valiantly battled ovarian cancer. Lori, a woman of grace and courage, asked Joe to "keep the fight going -- do it for all the other women." Mary Ellen, a gifted educator and mother of nine, inspired Joe to give back to the community. Both Mary Ellen and Lori lost their fights with ovarian cancer in 2003, but their courage and tireless spirits live on in Joe, his son Tyler and everyone involved in making this tournament a success.

Tami Dargey, Executive Director of the Marsha Rivkin Center thanked Joe White for continually supporting this important cause, "On behalf of the Center and women battling ovarian cancer, thank you for your unwavering support of the Courage 4Life Event and the Marsha Rivkin Center. We are proud of what you have done for research over the years." Dargey adds, "This is a significant event for us and we are truly grateful for the awareness you have created within the community as well as the enormous amount of dollars you have raised for research." The event was created in 2002 and has since raised over $350,000 for the Center.
