On November 9, 2012 more than 500 guests came together to make the 11th Anniversary Family & Friends Auction a truly memorable evening. The generosity of our attendees helped us raise a record-breaking $1.15 million dollars for ovarian cancer research!
The Family & Friends Auction is the union of two events started in 2002: The Fisher Family Golf Invitational and the Courage 4 Life Golf Tournament. Evolving into a major evening auction, this event has become the Northwest's largest fundraiser for ovarian cancer research.
Chaired by Dr. Katie Van Kessel and Mr. Derek Loeser and led by a committee of volunteers, the event was also an opportunity to celebrate our annual Courage for Life Awardee and the Babs Fisher Valor Awardees.
The Courage for Life Award recognizes those who, in the face of ovarian cancer, demonstrate a profound passion for life, a generosity to others, and an important contribution to the efforts of the organization. The 2012 award went to survivor Dr. Karla Mooers.
The Babs Fisher Valor Award recognizes those who provide outstanding leadership in increasing awareness of ovarian cancer, inspire philanthropic advocacy, and help to further the mission of the Rivkin Center. The 2012 award – the inaugural award – went to Gloria & Eric Bensussen.
The Rivkin Center has partnered with glassybaby for the past year, receiving 10% of all sales of "Aquamarine" throughout the year. glassybaby designed the elegant center pieces that were for sale during the evening.
The Family & Friends Auction is our organization's largest fundrasising event and has raised more than $6 million for ovarian cancer research during its history. Thank you!
SAVE THE DATE: The Family & Friends Auction will be held next year on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the Hyatt Bellevue.
