Fisher Family Golf & Soiree Raises Over $320,000
The 5th Annual Fisher Family Invitational was another outstanding success, raising over $320,000 for the Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer Research! The festivities began with the Summer Soiree & Auction on July 13, 2006, at the Bellevue Westin. Over 300 guests attended the sold out event, which was hosted by John Curley of KING TV's Evening Magazine. Guests enjoyed a catered dinner, silent and live auctions, great friends and company, and an evening of competitive bidding. The live auction included items such as a baby grand piano, vacations such as a 7-night Holland America Cruise, and unique experiences such as a privately catered party for 50. During the live auction, the auction focused on raising money for the Rivkin Center Pilot Study Program as a special Fund-A-Need Item. Board Member Chuck Lytle and his wife, Karen, and the Fisher Family each donated $25,000 which was used as a $50,000 challenge to the audience. Thanks to their generosity and the generosity of those attending, this Fund-A-Need item raised $130,000 for groundbreaking pilot study research! The highlight of the evening was announcing the Babs Fisher Pilot Study Award. Each year, a portion of the Fisher Family Invitation will go towards funding this award which, through a highly competitive process, will be awarded to the most innovative and cutting edge research. On behalf of the Fisher Family Invitational, Eddie Fisher took a moment in the evening to honor Chuck & Karen Lytle for the generous support they have provided to Fund-A-Need for 2 years in a row. In addition to Chuck & Karen, Eddie also honored three special guests for their courage and strength in battling ovarian cancer: Leslie Schafer, Gail Stulberg and Marian Zak. On Sunday, July 16, 2006, the festivities concluded with the Fisher Family Golf Invitational held at Trilogy Golf Course in Redmond, Washington. As usual, the Invitational was sold out and guests had a great time. |
