Daniela Dinulescu identifies the role of fallopian tubes in ovarian cancer

With funding from the Rivkin Center, Dr. Daniela Dinulescu and her colleagues demonstrate in a mouse model that high-grade serous ovarian cancer originates in fallopian tubes. The same key genetic changes occur in these mice that happen in human ovarian cancer tumors. This exciting research makes is possible to test new therapeutics and to develop better early detection tools to fight ovarian cancer. Dr. Dinulescu and her colleagues published their work in the prestigious scientific journal Cancer Cell on December 9th, 2013.
